The SKCC Weekend Sprintathon often features some type of Bonus Points.
February theme — BOAT ANCHOR equipment (big, heavy rigs that use vacuum tubes)
BOAT ANCHOR stations will count the number of vacuum tubes in their radio gear — Transmitters, Receivers, Transceivers, VFO and certain additional gear.
See the SKCC website (listed above) for specific information.
BOAT ANCHOR stations will count the number of tubes in their radio equipment and transmit that number in their Exchange.
Stations receiving such a BOAT ANCHOR exchange will be awarded that number of Bonus Points.
The BOAT ANCHOR station itself does not earn these Bonus Points (presumably unless they work another BOAT ANCHOR station and receive his/her tube count).
SKCC runs a monthly activity, which is a great environment for getting comfortable with contest-like CW QSOs.
The Weekend Sprintathon (WES) spans a weekend, each with a fun theme for collecting bonus points.
These events provide a great opportunity for those seeking various SKCC recognition levels, besides contacting friends old and new!
Typically, SKCC operators will QRS to the speed of the station calling them
